What is Tourette’s Disorder?
Tourette’s Disorder is a tic disorder. Tics are sudden twitches, movements, or sounds that people do repeatedly. People who have tics cannot stop their bodies from doing these things. The types of tics and how often a person has tics changes over time. Even though the symptoms might appear, disappear and reappear, these conditions are considered chronic. This often occurs with other related conditions. These conditions can include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and other behavioral conditions. People with Tourette’s Disorder and related conditions can be at higher risk for learning, behavioral, and social problems. The onset of Tourette’s is before age 18.
Camp Excel for Children And Young Adults with Learning Disorders
Camp Excel, based in Manasquan, NJ, has offered social skills programs for those diagnosed with Learning Disorders, for over 20 years. Our management team, the Cable Family, shares a passion for helping children and young adults with these special needs. Other disorders or disabilities we serve include kids and young adults that have been diagnosed with ADHD, high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, Learning Disabilities, and other childhood diagnoses.
