So many of our campers have attended the program for most of their childhood and cherish their Camp Excel memories. They have moved onto their adult lives and are now faced with adult issues while dealing with their unique challenges. At Camp Excel in Monmouth County NJ, we strive to develop programs to meet the ongoing special needs of those with Social Skill Challenges. Our Young Adult Social Skills Group programs are offered to meet the needs of those ages 18-26 that need support at this stage of life.

Social Skills Group Activities For Young Adults

The group members engage in a Group Discussion facilitated by a Licensed Therapist,  allowing them the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about their issues.  Relationships, employment, daily stressors, medication, social goals, and dealing with their unique challenges are frequent topics. The social skills group members provide each other with support, encouragement, and social connections. We will, on occasion, go to lunch or an outing together after the group.

Many group members have become friends outside of the group and will get together for parties, movies, or just to hang out. Camp Excel Programs support those with mild special needs that may have been diagnosed with ADHD, high functioning Autism Spectrum DisorderAnxietySocial Communication DisorderTourette’sAuditory Processing Disorder,  Learning Disabilities, and other young adult diagnoses.
